Background:
Fas and tumor necrosis factor receptor 1
(TNFR1) are two prototype members in the
death receptor family. A novel protein that
associates with the intracellular domains of Fas
and TNFR1 was recently identified and
designated F1A
and FEM1b. F1A
/FEM1 is
the homologue of C. elegans sex determining
protein FEM-1. FEM-1/F1A
is cleaved by CED-
3 and caspases. FEM-1/F1A
associates with
CED-4 and its mammalian homologue Apaf-1.
Over-expression of F1A
induces apoptosis.
F1A
is therefore a novel member of the death
receptor associated protein that mediates
apoptosis. F1A
is expressed in a variety of
human and mouse tissues.
Specificity:
Recognizes F1A
.
Positive Controls:
Mouse liver tissue lysate (~ 70 kDa band can be
detected by Western blot).
Species Reactivity:
Human, mouse and rat. Other species not tested.
Host:
Rabbit
Immunogen:
A peptide corresponding to amino acids near the
carboxy-terminus of human F1A
. This
sequence is identical to the corresponding
sequence of mouse FEM1b.
Format:
100 μg of polyclonal antibody in PBS containing
0.02% sodium azide. Purified by immunoaffinity
chromatography.
Storage:
Store at 4°C.
Applications and Suggested Dilutions:

Western blot: Use at 0.5 - 1 μg/mL.

Immunohistochemistry: Use at ~ 5 μg/mL.
The optimal dilution for a specific application
should be determined by the researcher.
